An unusual phone project from LG
This interesting patent was officially registered by the South Korean manufacturer on 8 October. The document contains 21 pages of details about this device, which can be expanded to different sizes because it offers good flexibility and has a sliding screen mode.
LG has long been working on a phone with a ‘rollable’ design. This project was basically a smartphone whose screen could expand to grow. However, the company ended production in 2021 and cancelled the project. Three years later, it has now become clear that LG is returning to this project.
In past reports, it was stated that this intriguing device would have an OLED screen, Snapdragon 888 processor, 12 GB RAM capacity, 4,500 mAh battery and finally the ability to expand its screen from 6.8 inches to 7.4 inches.
However, the markings on the screen and concerns about durability were an important point for the project to continue. It seems that the new patent will solve this problem by offering a magnetic system to smooth these markings as well as normalising the screen in general.
